ABOUT US

    Family Resources of New Orleans has operated a family resource center in Historical Treme' since 1997. The Family Resources Center was
    established shortly after the "Welfare to Work" legislation, mandating that poor families enter the "World of Work", for the first time.  The Center
    served as a safety net, providing families with soft skills they needed to gain employment and has expanded to a community housing developer
    working to eradicate poverty and eliminate housing blight.

    We at Family Resources accomplish this mission by providing resources that promote affordable housing, rebuilding sustainable communities
    and fostering economic well being.   The mission of the agency is to enable and empower families to become self-sufficient, by building wealth
    through homeownership.

    The agency is certified by the Louisiana Homebuyers Certification Board and HUD.  We received CHDO (Community Housing Development
    Organization) designation with the City of New Orleans in 2003 and with the state of Louisiana in 2004.  In July 2005, a second office was
    established in Boutte, LA in St. Charles Parish to assist rural families with obtaining homeownership.
